Energy Conservation

Your cooperative strives to help members by providing energy-saving information that can put more money in your pocket. Here are some ideas that may reduce your electric use and stretch your energy dollar.

Turn the lights off when you leave the room.

Use landscaping or plant trees to provide a wind break and shade.

Use fans only on really hot days.

Use low-flow shower heads to reduce water use.

Insulate properly. Check for air leaks and replace old caulking or weather stripping.

Purchase appliances with the Energy Star label. These appliances are designed to use less energy than standard appliances.

Inspect your furnace periodically. Clean filters at least twice a year or as necessary to maintain optimal performance.

Close drapes during the summer months to keep heat out and open windows at night to let the cool air in.
