Wiring Systems
Wiring problems beyond the metering point are the responsibility of the member and an electrical contractor should be contacted for repairs. However, if the problem involves your off-peak electric heat, please contact the office so the load management technicians may inspect the receivers and other equipment.
According to state law, when wiring system changes are made, the state electrical inspector that covers your area must inspect the work. Beltrami Electric line personnel are not licensed electricians and are not qualified to work on your wiring system. If a line crew is called to your account for a trouble call where the fault is in your own wiring system, you will be billed for their time. This is a policy to keep fairness to all member-owners of the cooperative. Wiring inquiries should be directed to the member services department.
Who is responsible?
Beltrami Electric will supply the meter and the wires from the transformer to the meter base. It is the member's responsibility to provide the meter base, meter loop, ground rod and wire, main service panel, PVC pipe and all wiring from the meter base to the main service panel. The new service wiring guideline diagrams serve only as an example. A licensed electrical contractor should be contacted for professional installation.
