SCHOLARSHIPS

Beltrami Electric Cooperative and its Board of Directors are pleased to be able to award scholarships annually to deserving students attending seven area high schools in our service area. In addition, one At-Large Scholarship will be awarded annually.

Beltrami Electric Cooperative Scholarship Program

Attention High School Seniors!
As we all now, a college education can be expensive. If you are a high school senior who attends one of schools listed below and are interested in applying for a scholarship from Beltrami Electric Cooperative, please contact your high school's designated guidance office or scholarship committee for additional information and an application. The scholarship selection process is handled through each school's designated career guidance office or scholarship committee.  Contact your student's school for applications and deadlines.

To be eligible to be awarded scholarship money this spring, the parents and/or guardians of the students must be members of Beltrami Electric Cooperative.

Scholarships are awarded to the following schools: Bemidji High School, Blackduck High School, Cass Lake-Bena High School, Kelliher High School, Laporte High School, Red Lake High School, Walker-Hackensack-Akeley High School. If you attend one of the above schools (Other than Blackduck), you may use the application listed below.

Beltrami Electric Cooperative At-Large Scholarship Information

Beltrami Electric Cooperative will award one $1,000 At-Large Scholarship to a Beltrami Electric Cooperative member or dependent of a BEC member who plans to enroll as a full-time student in their first year at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university or vocational/technical school.

The At-Large Scholarship program is for students who do not attend one of the seven schools listed under Beltrami Electric's High School Scholarship program. Scholarships will not be awarded to Beltrami Electric Cooperative employees or dependents of employees, board of directors or the Beltrami Electric Trust Board.

At-Large Scholarship Application

Beltrami Electric Cooperative funds college scholarships with unclaimed capital credit dollars that, per Minnesota state law for unclaimed property, would otherwise be forfeited to the state.  As a co-op, Beltrami Electric returns excess revenue to members as capital credit. When capital credits are unclaimed, they are deposited into a separate fund for education and are used to offer scholarships for the children of co-op members.

For more information or questions regarding Beltrami Electric Cooperative's scholarship programs, contact Angela Lyseng at (218) 444-3689 or via email alyseng@beltramielectric.com.
